Health Industry Making Limited Progress on ICD-10 Transition
The healthcare industry is not making the amount of progress that is needed for a smooth transition to ICD-10 in October 2014, according to a letter submitted by the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange, an HHS advisor, to the Secretary of HHS.

CMS: 2014 ICD-10 Deadline Won't Change
As many provider groups continue to call for another ICD-10 delay, or to abandon ICD-10 altogether, CMS has said the current deadline of Oct. 1, 2014 will stay intact, according to a letter (pdf) sent to AHIMA, a Chicago-based trade organization representing health information management professionals.

CMS to Delay Stage 3 Meaningful Use Requirements
CMS will delay making rules on stage 3 meaningful use of electronic health records until next year while it examines how the existing requirements are rolling out, CMS Acting Administrator Marilyn Tavenner said at the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society Annual Conference in New Orleans, March 3-7, 2013, according to an AHA News Now report.
