Massachusetts will receive $16.9 million through CMS to create a health information exchange for hospitals, insurance companies and patients, according to a Boston Herald report.
The $16.9 million will go toward phase one of the exchange, which is expected to go live this fall. Phase one will put a management team, governance structure and operations staff in place to develop the infrastructure of the exchange, according to the report. There are to be three phases of the project.

The funding was agreed to in February but the contract was signed more recently, according to the report.
