Here are nine statistics on costs of electronic health records, according to the Medscape EHR Report 2012.
Costs per physician for purchasing and installing EHR:

• 5 percent of physicians reported $5,000 or less
• 8 percent of physicians reported costs $5,001-$10,000
• 15 percent of physicians reported costs $10,001-$35,000
• 6 percent of physicians reported costs $35,001-$49,999
• 7 percent of physicians reported costs more than $50,000

Monthly fees per provider for web-based EHR:


• 11 percent reported costs less than $300
• 10 percent reported $300-$500
• 6 percent reported $500-$700
• 4 percent reported over $700
