The National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Farzad Mostashari, announced that the "Governance Framework for Trusted Electronic Health Information Exchange" has been released by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.
The framework was released to provide a common foundation for all types of governance models for HIE. According to Mr. Mostashari, entities that set health information exchange policies should look to the framework's principles as a way to align their work with national priorities.
The ONC will also consider updating the framework over time to reflect policy changes, technological advancements and market innovations.
