Report: Nearly 50% of EHR Vendors Unresponsive About ICD-10 Implementation

Health Information Technology

Almost 50 percent of physician groups reported that they have not heard from their electronic health record vendor about when ICD-10 software changes or upgrades will be available for their practice, according to a report by Medical Group Management Association- American College of Medical Practice Executives.
The report includes responses from more than 1,200 medical groups where, combined, more than 55,000 physicians practice.

Key findings of the report include:

•    Only 26.5 percent of respondents report being completely confident that their EHR vendor will be able to meet the Oct. 1, 2014 compliance date for ICD-10.
•    Thirty-seven percent of respondents reported that their vendor will cover the cost to upgrade or replace their EHR.
•    Forty-two percent of respondents reported that they do not have a scheduled date to begin ICD-10 testing with their EHR.
