Dr. Roger Härtl most experienced Airo system surgeon in northeastern US: 5 highlights

MIS

Roger Härtl, MD, has utilized the Airo system — developed by Munich, Germany-based Brainlab and Shirley, Mass.-based Mobius — in more procedures than any other surgeon in the northeastern United States.

He serves as chief of spinal surgery and neurotrauma at New York City-based Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian.

Here are five highlights:

1. Dr. Härtl first used the CT navigation system in November 2014.

2. He has used the Airo system for more than 250 procedures.

3. The Airo system features a doughnut-shaped scanner, which captures a full spinal scan in 30 seconds.

4. The system provides surgeons with scans in real time during surgery, as well.

5. Throughout the nation, only 30 Airo systems are in clinical use.
