1. Dr. Abbasi performed the procedure at RiverView Health in Crookston, Minn.
2. The minimally invasive procedure is intended to treat pain from degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis and spinal stenosis.
3. OLLIF, which uses a 15 mm incision, is designed to heighten the disc and limit disc movement.
4. Dr. Abbasi performs minimally invasive spine procedures and specializes in scoliosis, trauma and spinal stabilizations, spinal cord tumors, brain tumors, pituitary tumors, brain hemorrhage and non-emergent trauma vagal nerve stimulator, peripheral nerve and carpal tunnel.
5. Inspired Spine presented a study on the economic performance of OLLIF at the Spine Summit 2017 in Las Vegas. Researchers found performing OLLIF instead of transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion could save around $2.7 billion per year.
