Alevio reported surgeons have completed the 500th case using its SiCure Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System. A second-generation sacroiliac joint fusion system, the SiCure features uniquely designed titanium screws.

 

SI-BONE receives FDA clearance, fully launches patented iFuse-3D Implant
SI-BONE received FDA clearance for its iFuse-3D Implant, which is the first 3-D-printed titanium implant for SI joint use. The company is also initiating a full U.S. commercial launch of the implant.

 

Expanding Orthopedics' FLXfit15 earns CE mark
Expanding Orthopedics received the CE mark for its FLXfit15, which enhances the FLXfit 3D expandable cage, offering expansion up to four mm and controlled lordosis correction of up to 15 degrees. Expanding Orthopedics' application for FLXfit15 510k clearance is pending.

Vertos Medical completes $28M financing round
Vertos Medical in Aliso Veijo, Calif., completed a $28 million financing round. Vertos plans to use proceeds from the financing round to expand commercialization of mild, the company's procedure designed to remove the cause of spinal stenosis through a minimally invasive incision.

 

DePuy Synthes acquires Sentio to strengthen spine business
DePuy Synthes, Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, acquired Innovative Surgical Solutions, a nerve localization technology company doing business as Sentio. The move falls in line with DePuy Synthes' stated strategy of investing in faster growing segments with technologies designed to bring value to patients. Sentio focuses on the spine surgery field.

 

Dr. Hamid Abbasi reaches 500th OLLIF procedure
Hamid Abbasi, MD, performed his 500th Oblique Lateral Lumber Interbody Fusion. OLLIF, which uses a 15 mm incision, is designed to heighten the disc and limit disc movement. The minimally invasive procedure is intended to treat pain from degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis and spinal stenosis.
