Health Care Service Corp.'s Blue Cross Blue Shield divisions in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas now cover minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion.

1. The plans also kept their exclusive positive coverage for SI-BONE's iFuse Implant System, which went into effect Jan. 1.
2. The updated policy took effect July 15.
3. The updated policy reads: "use of minimally invasive or percutaneous SIJ fusion products other than titanium triangular implants/devices (e.g., iFuse Implant System) is considered experimental, investigational and/or unproven."
4. SelectHealth in Utah and Geisinger in Pennsylvania also offer exclusive positive coverage for the iFuse Implant System.
5. The iFuse Implant System is designed to fuse the SI joint via its triangular titanium implants.
