K2M launches Everest Minimally Invasive XTower instrumentation system — 4 notes

MIS

K2M launched the Everest Minimally Invasive XTower instrumentation globally, an enhancement to the Everest MI XT Spinal System.

Here are four things to know:

1. K2M launched the Everest MI XT Spinal System in 2016, elevating K2M's percutaneous screw platform to one of the most comprehensive on the market. The XTower enhances the platform by providing a new surgical solution for treating complex deformities to achieve three-dimensional spinal balance.

2. XTower instrumentation includes an entire tab-to-screw assembly providing rigid reinforcement of the Everest MI XT screw tabs. Surgeons can use the XTower throughout the procedure due to streamlined instrumentation.

3. Surgeons can also achieve intraoperative customization of screw extension rigidity with the Everest MI XTower when using the Everest MI XT Spinal System. "The increased screw extension strength provided by the XTower allows surgeons to treat a full spectrum of pathologies utilizing one system," said Ashok Biyani, MD, a spine surgeon with Toledo (Ohio) Orthopedic Surgeons.

4. Surgeons can use the XTower on complex procedures with minimally invasive techniques. K2M launched the XTower at the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Annual Forum from Sept. 14 to 16, 2017 in Las Vegas.
