San Jose, Calif.-based SI-BONE announced more than 8,500 patients have been treated with its iFuse minimally invasive implant system for fusion of the sacroiliac joint. To date, more than 25,000 iFuse implants have been placed in patients worldwide. The device has a triangular-shaped profile that is coated with a porous titanium plasma spray, which allows for biological fixation.
SI-BONE estimates the iFuse Implant System accounts for nearly 90 percent of all minimally invasive SI joint fusion procedures performed in the U.S.
