The latest generation of the device has shown improvements over the first generation, which demonstrated the potential to reduce disc bulges and avoid low back surgery. The therapy is an injection procedure. Testing of the device will continue for improved disc penetration and steering for optimal cell placement.
The device is currently patent-pending and is designed as a needle/catheter delivery system to inject cells directly into the annular tear that is causing the bulge or herniation.
