Orthopedics Accounted for 12% of Medical Device Recalls 2005-2010 Featured

About 12 percent of medical device recalls were attributed to orthopedic therapeutic devices from 2005 to 2010, according to a MarketResearch report.
Between 2005 and 2010, the United States recorded 4,343 medical device recalls with more than 800 companies initiating recalls. In 2010 alone, 54 class 1 recalls were recorded. Orthopedic therapeutic devices accounted for a lower percentage of overall recalls than cardiovascular therapies and radiology devices, which accounted for 16 percent and 14 percent of recalls respectively.
