Zimmer Holdings and Tokyo-based Seikagaku have won a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Sanofi, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.
Sanofi filed a complaint that alleged Seikagaku-developed and Zimmer-distributed Gel-One product infringed its patent for treating knee arthritis. A federal jury ruled last month that the patent includes administration through a single injection rather than multiple injections. The patent was also ruled invalid because it included "obvious variations of earlier work."
