Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic are among the top 10 medical devices that spent the most on research and development efforts in 2011, according to a Mass Device analysis.
Johnson & Johnson spent a whopping $7.55 billion, coming in second behind eye care-developer Alcon, which spent more than $9.5 billion. Meanwhile, Medtronic spent a reported $1.5 billion.
