Medical device maker Medtronic has filed a motion to dismiss a whistleblower lawsuit that alleges the company used a paid spine surgeon to promote its product in a medical journal. The complainant alleges Thomas Zdeblick, MD, inventor of the LT-Cage that houses Medtronic’s Infuse Bone Growth device, published articles promoting the device while acting as editor of a medical journal. The suit also alleges that Dr. Zdeblick never disclosed his connection with Medtronic.
