Jason Highsmith, MD, performed a Precision Spectra Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, S.C., one of the first surgeons in the country to do so. The Boston Scientific-developed device uses electrical pulses in the spinal cord to replace patient pain with a tingling sensation. The device provides twice the amount of normal contacts and is designed for more spinal cord coverage and greater pain management, according to the release.
