OrthoData Device Gauges Spine Fusion Success

Spinal Tech

OrthoData, a medical device developer, relocated from Louisville, Ky., to Hinckley, Ohio, and brought its device to gauge the success of spinal fusion surgeries, according to MedCity News. OrthoData develops implantable sensors to attach to a pedicle screw implanted during spinal fusion surgery. The device, the IntelliRod, tracks the load being placed on the implanted rod so physicians can gauge the growth of the bone, according to the report.

The company was founded by Randy Puno, MD, an orthopedic surgeon from Louisville, to improve fusion rates in his patients.
