ConforMIS strikes license agreement with Wright Medical, MicroPort Orthopedics — 5 things to know

Spinal Tech

A new license agreement between ConforMIS, Wright Medical Technology and MicroPort Orthopedics resolved a patent dispute between the companies dating back to September 2013.

Here are five things to know about the new agreement:

1. ConforMIS now is able to use its proprietary iFit Image-to-Implant technology for foot and ankle implants.

2. The license covers MicroPort's Prophecy Patient-Specific Instrumentation system for use with the Advance and Evolution total knee systems, including the pin alignment and resection versions of Prophecy PSI. Microport acquired the technology from Wright.

3. Wright Medical now has a non-exclusive, worldwide license under its patent portfolio to use patient-specific instrumentation for foot and ankle implants other than patient-specific implants. This license covers Wright's Prophecy PSI for use with the InBone and Infinity total ankle replacement systems.

4. The agreement strengthens ConforMIS's intellectual property and broadens the patient-specific instrumentation globally.

5. ConforMIS also manufactures the iUni and iTotal knee replacement patient-specific implants.
