France-based Implanet reported revenue growth in the first half of 2016.
Here are six key notes on the company’s financial report:
1. For the second quarter of 2016, Implanet’s revenue was up 23 percent. Spine sales grew 68 percent, driven by JAZZ implant sales in the United States. Implanet sold 1,093 JAZZ unites in France and 508 in the United States. The total unit growth was 42 percent.
2. Knee sales in the second quarter grew 51 percent. The French market accounted for 70 percent of the knee sales, partially offsetting the low level of activity in Brazil.
3. In the first half of the year, Implanet’s global activity increased by 24 percent over the same period last year. The 38 percent increase in spine activity drove growth; there was also a 12 percent increase in knee activity.
4. Implanet doubled down on spine sales in the United States and France. There was a 101 percent sales growth in the United States and a 19 percent growth in France. The company is also increasing surgeon recruitment, with 111 regular users of the JAZZ technology as of June 30. There are 64 users in the United States and 47 users in France.
5. The company is accelerating in the degenerative bone disorder segment with 137 percent growth in surgical procedures and 57 percent increase in JAZZ sales devoted to major deformity operations on adolescents.
6. So far in the United States, Implanet has sold 773 JAZZ units. The company has sold 1,805 units in France and 556 units in the rest of the world. The company reports having sold 3,134 units total in the first half of the year.
