iData Research conducted an in-person survey at the 2016 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting in Orlando, from March 1 to 5.
The company polled hundreds of orthopedic surgeons from a total of 37 countries.
Here are four findings:
1. The majority of respondents said that they are more inclined to administer single-injection hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation treatments rather than the three- or five-dose cycle injection treatments.
2. For single-injection HA treatments, the physicians reported they most often used Synvisc by Genzyme.
3. For total knee replacement procedures, physicians said they preferred implants from DePuy Synthes and Zimmer Biomet.
4. Each physician surveyed saw an average of 30 patients per week.
