The physicians are optimistic about the new device's potential impact.
Here are five things to know:
1. The Mazor X System is a robotic platform for spine surgery developed by Israel-based Mazor Robotics.
2. The platform system utilizes "enhanced analytical tools, precision guidance, optical tracking and intraoperative verification to make spine surgery safer and less invasive."
3. Christopher Good, MD, Thomas Schuler, MD, and Colin Haines, MD, used the Mazor X while performing spinal fusion surgery.
4. Dr. Good believes that the Mazor X will pave the way for new robotic guidance systems to team up with intraoperative spine navigation and usher in more helpful robotic breakthroughs in the industry.
5. The Mazor X is a new and improved version of Mazor's Renaissance system.
