Known for its production of medical grade silicon nitride, Salt Lake City-based Amedica Corp. has recently made an effort to expand its business into the spine, orthopedic and dentistry fields.
Here are five things to know about Amedica Corp:
1. Amedica currently makes facet fixation systems, pedicle screw systems, interbody fusion devices and non-silicon nitride spinal fusion products that treat degenerative and deformed spinal conditions.
2. The company hopes to expand its business by distributing silicon nitride ceramics in spine, orthopedic and dentistry fields.
3. Amedica operates the only FDA-registered and ISO 13485-certified silicon nitride medical device manufacturing facility in the world.
4. Amedica announced the successful completion of the first surgery using its Taurus Pedicle Screw System on Jan. 9.
5. The company is hosting the Evidence & Technology Spine Summit in Park City, Utah from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25.
