Caesarea, Israel-based Mazor Robotics earned FDA approval for its Mazor X Align software.
Here are five insights:
1. Mazor X Align helps surgeons create a patient-specific, 3-D spinal alignment plan, combining preoperative planning, image processing and computerized anatomy recognition elements.
2. The 3-D plan offers an entire spine simulation, offering preoperative estimation of the procedure's impact on postoperative posture. The plan factors in segmental range-of-motion and final alignment parameters.
3. The company plans to release the software to a limited number of Mazor X customers in early May.
4. Mazor plans to launch a widespread release in the second half of 2017.
5. Mazor will showcase the new software at the 2017 American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting in Los Angeles, from April 22 to 26.
