Dr. Edward Akelman to Lead American Society for Surgery of the Hand Featured

Edward Akelman, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, has been appointed president of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, according to a local Patch report.
Dr. Akelman earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and went on to complete a general surgery residency at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and an orthopedics residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He also finished spine and hand fellowships at Yale-New Haven and Roosevelt Hospital in New York, respectively.
