Edward Akelman, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, has been appointed president of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, according to a local
Patch report.
Dr. Akelman earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and went on to complete a general surgery residency at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and an orthopedics residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He also finished spine and hand fellowships at Yale-New Haven and Roosevelt Hospital in New York, respectively.
