Columbia, S.C.-based Moore Center for Orthopedics is joining Columbia-based Palmetto Health, according to a report by The State.
Here are five things to know:
1. Moore Center for Orthopedics will become an "employed practice" of the health system.
2. Moore includes two facilities — one at Providence Orthopedic Hospital in Columbia and the other is a freestanding facility in Lexington, S.C. The future of the facility on the Providence hospital campus is unclear.
3. Moore physicians will be transitioned into full use of Palmetto facilities.
4. Moore was opened in Columbia in 1928. Its physicians provide the full spectrum of orthopedic care as well as imaging services.
5. According to a spokeswoman, Providence did not have any comment on the Moore-Palmetto Health affiliation.
