Leland McCluskey, MD, traveled to Nepal to provide medical aid to victims of the recent devastating earthquake, according to a WRBL report.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. McCluskey is part of a six-person response team, organized by Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization.
2. Dr. McCluskey is working on treating crush injuries to lower extremities, as well as open fractures and closed fractures.
3. At last count, the magnitude-7.8 earthquake that hit Nepal has taken the lives of more than 7,000 people and injured over 14,000, according to a CNN report.
4. Dr. McCluskey practices with St. Francis Orthopaedic Institute in Columbus, Ga., and he has a professional interest in foot and ankle surgery.
