Here are 12 orthopedic surgeons making the news.

Paul Sethi, MD, taught an arthroscopy course in Delhi, India, to physicians and residents from around the world. He taught the annual live surgery course to instruct attendees on the new techniques and methodologies for challenging surgical steps.

 

Michael Momont, MD, was honored for his dedication, leadership and excellence in orthopedic surgery with his induction into Worldwide Registry, a database of leading medical professionals among other industry leaders.

 

The USA Rugby team selected Sam Akhavan, MD, to accompany the team to the 2015 Rugby World Cup in the United Kingdom. Dr. Akhavan practices with Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network.

 

Charles Blitzer, MD, and a colleague at the University of New Hampshire published an article about arthroscopic management of synovial osteochondromatosis of the hip in the June 2015 issue of Orthopedics. Dr. Blitzer practices at Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Somersworth, N.H.

 

Matthew J. Simons, MD, joined Sierra Pacific Orthopedics in Fresno, Calif. Dr. Simons specializes in the treatment of orthopedic injuries and conditions of the hip and knee.

 

Brandon Hayes, MD, joined Central Indiana Orthopedic in Muncie. He is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon specializing in various advanced procedures and techniques to diagnose and treat orthopedic injuries.

 

Edgefield (S.C.) County Hospital added George Sich III, DPM, to its medical staff. Dr. Sich specializes in treating disorders of the foot and toes such as hammertoe and pain in the ball of the foot.

 

Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron (Mich.) welcomed William Braaksma, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Braaksma is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon.

 

Jason Nydick, DO, joined Sacred Heart Medical Group in Pensacola, Fla. Dr. Nydick is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Orthopaedic Trauma Association and Arthroscopy Association of North America.

 

Lincoln (Neb.) Orthopaedic Center welcomed Jason P. Weber, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Weber primarily focuses on foot and ankle care, including total ankle replacement.

 

Gregory C. Mallo, MD, joined Orthopedic Associates of Long Island in New York. Dr. Mallo previously served as a medical officer in the United States Navy and administered care for injured U.S. Marines and Sailors.

 

Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, based in Exeter, N.H., added Bruce Gomberg, MD, to its practice. Dr. Gomberg focuses on joint replacements, fracture care and knee arthroscopy.
