Dr. Brian Cole to direct 17th Annual AAOS/AOSSM Sports Medicine Course

Brian Cole, MD, section head of the Cartilage Research and Restoration Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, is director for the 17th Annual AAOS/AOSSM Sports Medicine Course: Keeping Patients Active Through Innovation and Contemporary Techniques. Co-directors are John M. Tokish, MD, and Leslie J. Bisson, MD.

The meeting will take place from Jan. 27 to Jan. 31. The course will include information on:

 

• Innovation and emerging technology in sports medicine
• Panel debates on differing perspectives and preferences on controversial areas of decision-making and treatment approaches
• Responsibilities for team physicians from adolescent to professional to aging athletes
• Questions and discussions

 

The keynote lecture will feature the Top 7 Trending Sports Medicine topics for 2016. Surgeons will learn to compare and contrast various surgical and nonsurgical treatment protocols for instability conditions of the knee, injuries to knee ligaments and cartilage disorders; review anatomy, function and acromioclavicular joint of the shoulder; compare and contrast the indications and treatment for hip arthroscopy; and compare short-term and long-term treatment strategies for team physician in addition to other skills.
