Brett Crist, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon providing care at Columbia-based University of Missouri Health Care, where he is the co-director of the orthopedic trauma service and orthopedic trauma fellowship as well as the associated director of the joint preservation service. He focuses on orthopedic trauma/fracture care, hip and pelvis reconstruction including total hip arthroplasty, and young adult hip disorders/hip preservation.
Dr. Crist has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including the Barry J. Gainor Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Missouri's department of orthopedic surgery. His research interests include anterior total hip arthroplasty, fracture care and hip preservation procedures. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders.
Dr. Crist earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, where he also completed his residency. He completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of California, Davis.
