Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Struan Coleman of Hospital for Special Surgery

Struan H. Coleman, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon practicing at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also provides care at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia. He is the founder of CyMedica Orthopedics, and he is on the board of the company. He is the head team physician for the New York Mets.

Dr. Coleman has a professional interest in sports-related injuries of the hip, knee, and shoulder, as well as hip arthroscopy and hip preservation. He also focuses on rotator cuff disease and arthritis. He is an associate attending orthopedic surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.

 

Dr. Coleman's research work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, such as Arthroscopy and The American Journal of Orthopedics. He holds numerous patents for sports medicine technologies. Most recently, he patented the technology for the CyMedica QB1 Rehabilitation System, which is used to treat quadriceps atrophy.

 

Dr. Coleman earned a medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed both his residency in orthopedic surgery and a fellowship in sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
