Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Douglas Hutchinson of University of Utah Health Care

Douglas T. Hutchinson, MD, is an associate professor in the orthopedic department and the hand fellowship director at the University of Utah Health Care in Salt Lake City. He also serves as chief of hand surgery at Primary Children's Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Shriners Intermountain Hospital, all based in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Hutchinson has a professional interest in pediatric and congenital hand surgery, wrist and elbow surgery, rheumatoid deformities and sports related injuries. His research interests include neuroprosthetics for use in upper extremity amputees and congenital hand deformities. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Hand Surgery and Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics.

 

Dr. Hutchinson earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, also in Philadelphia. He completed his fellowship at the Raymond M. Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore.
