Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Charles Taunt of Michigan Orthopedic Center

Charles J. Taunt Jr., DO, is a practicing orthopedic surgeon at Michigan Orthopedic Center in Lansing. He is also an associate clinical professor of surgery at Michigan State University in East Lansing. He is a past president of the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedics' Resident Association and is currently a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery's Test Writing Committee.

Dr. Taunt focuses on hip and knee replacement surgery, with a special interest including the surgical treatment of component loosening, material failure, infection, joint instability and fractures around a hip or knee prosthesis. He is active in teaching different aspects of hip and knee replacement surgery to other orthopedic surgeons around the country. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

 

Dr. Taunt earned his osteopathic medicine degree at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, after which he completed a residency at St. John Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich., and an adult reconstruction fellowship at the University of Chicago.
