Darryl M. Kan, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Hawaii, a practice with offices in Honolulu and Hilo, Hawaii. He specializes in sports medicine, with a particular interest in advanced arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery.
Outside of Orthopedic Associates of Hawaii, Dr. Kan is involved with the Honolulu-based University of Hawaii. At the university, he serves as both the orthopedic consultant for the department of athletics and as a faculty member at the school of medicine, where he is an assistant clinical professor in orthopedic sports medicine. Prior to becoming a surgeon, he played professional football as a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and the San Diego Chargers.
Dr. Kan earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he also did his residency in orthopedic surgery. He went on to complete his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, a practice with five locations throughout California.
