Benjamin Thompson, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, a practice with six locations throughout New Hampshire. He specializes in sports medicine, with an emphasis on arthroscopic procedures and cartilage injury treatment.
Prior to joining Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, Dr. Thompson spent three years at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton in Massachusetts, where he helped to develop the hospital's orthopedic center. He is a recent recipient of the Herodicus Society Traveling Sports Medicine Fellowship award, which recognizes sports medicine physicians in the United States. His team physician experience includes working with athletes from minor league baseball, Division I and Division II collegiate and high school teams.
Dr. Thompson earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College in New York. He performed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Worcester-based University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he also participated in a one-year musculoskeletal research fellowship. He went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at the Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute.
