Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville (S.C.) added Dr. Lauren Leffler to its staff, GreenvilleOnline reports.

1. Dr. Leffler is the first female pediatric orthopedic surgeon in the state. She is the eighth orthopedic surgeon at Shriners.
2. Dr. Leffler earned her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She completed a residency in the Greenville Health System, and decided on Shriners after a mentor suggested she apply there.
