Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Amir Khan of Texas Institute of Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine

Amir M. Khan, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Texas Institute of Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, a practice he founded in Grapevine, Texas, and Fort Worth, Texas. He specializes in arthroscopy and sports medicine, including ligament repair, reconstruction and cartilage restoration surgery.

As a sports medicine specialist, he has worked with the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Demons, San Jose Ballet and athletics teams at Stanford University and Santa Clara University, all of which were based in California. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Khan also pursues research in areas related to joint procedures and fracture care, which have been published in journals like Orthopedic Clinics of North America and American Journal of Orthopedics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

Dr. Khan earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He went on to complete an orthopedic residency at New York-based Stony Brook University and two fellowships at California-based Stanford University. During his two fellowships, he trained in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery and in foot and ankle surgery.
