Mark Adickes, MD, is chief of sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He specializes in arthroscopic treatment of knee, hip and shoulder injuries, with a particular interest in slowing down the progression of hip arthritis.

Much of Dr. Adickes' passion to treat injuries through surgeries and rehabilitations stems from his previous career as an NFL lineman. As a member of the 1992 Washington team that won the Super Bowl, Dr. Adickes reached the sport's biggest stage, while suffering injuries along the way. He believes that his unique perspective ultimately allows him to provide better care for his patients.

 

Dr. Adickes received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston before completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and his fellowship at Stedman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo.
