Travis G. Maak, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Salt Lake City-based University Orthopaedic Center.
Dr. Maak specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic treatment of athletic hip, knee and shoulder injuries. He currently serves as head orthopedic team physician for the NBA's Utah Jazz and is assistant professor at Salt Lake City-based University of Utah's department of orthopedics. Dr. Maak performs hip and knee joint preservation surgery, cartilage restoration, shoulder instability, rotator cuff repair and knee arthroscopy at his practice.
Much of his research focusing on hip joint preservation, femoroacetabular impingement, meniscus and articular cartilage injury and knee joint biomechanics has been published.
Dr. Maark graduated from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., before interning at New York City-based New York-Presbyterian Hospital/New York Weill Cornell Center and completing his residency at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery. He then underwent his sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at HSS, as well.
