Carlos A. Prietto, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and managing partner of Orange, Calif.-based Orthopaedic Specialty Institute.
Dr. Prietto specializes in sports medicine and serves as head team physicians for the University of California, Irvine athletic program.
Currently serving as CEO of Hoag Orthopedic Institute, the largest volume joint replacement hospital in California, Dr. Prietto has also published numerous articles on basic science and clinical issues throughout his career and frequently lectures on topics related to sports medicine.
Dr. Prietto serves as a clinical professor of orthopedics at UC Irvine and maintains membership with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Western Orthopaedic Association. Orange Coast Magazine has named him a "Top Doc" three times over the course of his career.
Dr. Prietto obtained his medical degree from UC Irvine before interning at USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and completing an orthopedic residency at UC Irvine. He then underwent a sports medicine fellowship at Los Angeles-based Kerlan-Jobe Clinic.
