In a recent study published in The Journal of Pain, researchers from the U.K. Primary Care Centre in Staffordshire examined the low back pain and its progression to chronic pain.
The study found that patient expectation of pain continuation and the intensity of pain were significant predictive factors of poor patient outcome at six months and five years.
The researchers found that effective relief in initial pain management has an impact on patients' long-term improvement.
