The Colorado's Workers' Compensation Division is considering new pain management guidelines to reduce the number of injured workers addicted to pain medications, according to a Law Firm of Janice M. Greening news release.
Current guidelines require urine drug tests to ensure patients are not diverting painkillers. The guidelines don't include a specific dosage that requires additional precautions, but the new guidelines are expected to suggest a dose where physicians need to take additional precautions before prescribing.
