Since new regulations took effect in Tennessee to curb pill mills, the state's Department of Health has issued 255 pain clinics licenses, according to a Chattanooga Times Free Press report.
The law took effect Jan. 1, 2012, and requires pain management clinics to obtain licenses, outlaws cash payment for treatment and requires a licensed physician at the clinic at least 20 percent of the time, according to the report.
