New York Pain Consultants, a pain management center, has seen a 20 percent increase in patients per week since Hurricane Sandy, according to Luis M. Fandos, co-founder of the center.
The physicians at the center are now seeing an average of 1,000 patients a week, up from approximately 800 per week before the storm. According to Dr. Fandos, rigorous storm clean-up, home displacement and a disruption of daily life has left more people in pain.
