A petition has been created on the White House Website that urges the government to include acupuncture under CMS and Federal Employee Insurance. The petition says that including acupuncture will "maximize results, end needless suffering & save huge amounts of healthcare dollars."
The petition is attempting to get 25,000 signatures by Nov. 4, 2011. It currently has just under 2,000. The petition maintains that "numerous studies" have shown the treatment "very effective" in treating pain patients with type II diabetes, reflux, asthma, post-stroke, chronic pain, insomnia, shingles and hot flashes, among others.
