Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Jeffrey Fischgrund of Beaumont Orthopaedic Center

Jeffrey S. Fischgrund, MD, is a spine surgeon at Beaumont Orthopaedic Center in Royal Oak, Mich. He is also a professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, Mich. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Michigan Orthopaedic Society and Michigan State Medical Society.

Dr. Fischgrund's research interests include bone morphogenic proteins and cervical disc replacements. He has also authored a number of scientific articles and textbook chapters on spine surgery. He was named editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2009.

Dr. Fischgrund is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His clinical interests include cervical herniated discs, cervical spine diseases, degenerative spine, diskectomy, laminectomy and lumbar degenerative disc disease.

Dr. Fischgrund earned his medical degree at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, and he has completed a spine surgery fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.
