Neurosurgeon Juan Jimenez, MD, practices at Riverside Medical Group and serves patients in Kankakee, Ill. Dr. Jimenez is also an assistant professor in Rush University Medical Center's neurological surgery department.
He specializes in neurological disorders, including conventional and minimally invasive surgical techniques for brain and spinal disorders. His research focuses on surgical spinal devices. Dr. Jimenez was one of the first surgeons to use Stryker's 3D-printed Tritanium Posterior Lumbar Cage.
After earning his medical degree from University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Jimenez completed his neurological surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
"In lumbar spinal fusion procedures, advancement of bony fusion at the target levels is critical for a successful clinical outcome," said Dr. Jimenez. "3D additive manufacturing allows the creation of spinal implants with fully interconnected pores, similar to native bone, to promote bony integration or bony in-growth, as well as radiolucency to allow visualization on CT and X-ray."
