Rex A.W. Marco, MD, is a board-certified spine surgeon and musculoskeletal oncologist at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He also serves as an orthopedic surgery professor and chief of spine surgery and musculoskeletal oncology at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Dr. Marco is the spine service co-director at Houston-based Shriner's Hospital for Children. He is also the director of The Texas Medical Center Spine Fellowship, within which he has trained 15 spine fellows.
A member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Marco is also affiliated with the Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society, Cervical Spine Research Society and Musculoskeletal Tumor Society.
Dr. Marco earned his medical degree from University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, and completed his internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Dr. Marco underwent his musculoskeletal oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and his spine surgery fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
