Tim Watt, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon at South Dakota-based Black Hills Neurosurgery and Spine.
Dr. Watts began his career when he earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He then had an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurosurgery at the State University of New York. While at SUNY, he was named a Perkins Neuroscience Scholar because of his research on brain tumors.
He also received training on the orthopedic treatment of spinal disorders, and participated in the development of spinal instruments.
During his residency, Dr. Watt became the chief of surgery for the Army Reserve's 357th Combat Support Hospital. After he completed his residency he then enrolled with the army. He was the chief of neurosurgery and the director of pediatric neurosurgery at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu.
After serving in the army, Dr. Watt began to practice in Lincoln, Neb. He was the chief of neurosurgery for three hospitals in Lincoln, and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Watt is a member of several professional societies including the American Medical Association and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Outside of his professional career, Dr. Watt enjoys downhill skiing and is a certified rescue scuba diver.
