Daniel J. Tomes, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Lincoln-based The Nebraska Neurosurgery Group, where he specializes in spine, brain and peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr. Tomes' operative interests include brain and spinal tumor resection, management of traumatic and athletic injuries of the brain and spine, minimally invasive spinal discectomy and fusion, stereotactic radiosurgery and carpal tunnel release surgery. His written articles have been published in state, national and international medical journals such as Oncology, Journal of Neurosurgery, and The North American Skull Base Society and he has won awards for his research work.
He is medical director for Nebraska Sports Concussion Network and sits on the board of directors for Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.
He obtained his doctorate of medicine at Omaha-based University of Nebraska College of Medicine, completed a general surgery internship and neurological surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and served as UNMC's chief resident of neurosurgery.
